Susan Black | Executive Director
As Executive Director, Susan Black leads the ongoing strategic vision of the Foundation. She oversees the leadership development, planned giving, fund management, and financial stewardship services of the Foundation. Susan administers the Foundation in ways that promote clergy excellence, the spiritual discipline of generosity, and value-aligned, socially responsible investing.
Ms. Black has been involved in the United Methodist Church throughout her life. She is currently an active member of the Lithopolis UMC and is an at-large member of the Annual Conference. Susan is coming to this new work with over 25 years of experience in professional fund raising including having her own consulting firm in the field. She is skilled in board training and governance of nonprofits. She will be overseeing the work of the Foundation which includes $80 Million in assets.

Bruce Boyd | Board of Directors Chair
Sydney, Ohio - Ginghamsburg UMC
Bruce is the retired President/CEO of Amos Media Company, a publisher of enthusiast magazines with a major focus on coin and stamp collecting news and information. Mr. Boyd is active in the Sidney Ohio community having served on many nonprofit community organizations. He is the 2004 recipient of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Zenith Award for outstanding commitment to a lifetime of community service. Bruce is actively involved at all levels of the United Methodist Church. He has served as lay leader of the West Ohio Conference and currently serves as Chair of the United Methodist Foundation of West Ohio. Bruce and his wife Judi have four children and four grandchildren.
William Brownson | CFO and Director of Administration
Columbus, Ohio - King Avenue UMC
Since 2010, Bill Brownson has been CFO and Director of Administration for the West Ohio Conference. Mr. Brownson received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Ohio State’s Fisher College. His career includes 20 years in financial services where he held several positions including responsibility for growing JPMorgan’s philanthropic advisory practice. His consulting includes working on behalf of educational and child welfare organizations, including as CEO of UMCH Family Services. He has held many local church and conference leadership positions including serving as CF&A Chair. Since 2011, Bill has served on the Otterbein Homes Corporate Board and is currently Vice Chair.
In 2015 he was elected President of Annual Conference Treasurers Association. Bill currently serves on GCFA’s Fiduciary, Foundations and Property Committee, the Board of United Methodist Insurance and was the North Central Jurisdiction’s lay representative to the 2017-2018 Apportionment Sustainability Task Force.
Bill lives in Columbus with his partner and now husband of 29 years, Myron Phillips where they recently moved from a 130-year-old renovated home to a 9th floor brand new condominium.
